Steele Rd, Kansas City, KS

When Aaron brought us the Steele Road house – a charming 4 bedroom, 1 bathroom bungalow – we had our doubts. It did, after all, have a Toyota truck with a partially disassembled engine in the basement. Despite what looked like some heavy lifting, the team jumped into action to make this diamond in the rough shine.

The dated exterior got a facelift with a new roof, new porch supports, siding repair, and fresh paint. The team cleared the dead trees and overgrowth from the backyard, then repaired the surrounding fence.

With a lighter, brighter view from each window – natural light flooded this house. We kept new finishes simple and complementary to spotlight the innate charm you only find in a home of this era.

Warm, neutral wall color created a cozy space with refinished hardwood floors and freshly painted Craftsman-style trim.

We even finished the upstairs loft and closet – creating a uniquely flexible space that could be used as a massive 4th bedroom, playroom, or home office.

With the truck removed from the basement, the entire space was cleaned, foundation repaired, painted, sealed. The transformation in this space alone was impressive – especially the addition of brighter lighting and the clean-up of cables and conduit hanging from the rafters.

Our adventure with this project wrapped up with a quick listing and sale on the Heartland MLS.
