Our renovation on Silver Avenue was another case of a stunning Mid-century home needing a fresh start. The expansive Ranch boasted tons of space. On initial walk-throughs, we knew opening a couple of walls and making room for a larger master ensuite would help to modernize the space and make it more suitable for its next family.

Our team made the most of this home’s shady corner lot by cleaning up dead trees, clearing overgrowth, and adding a new deck. We expanded the dining room doorway with a slider to allow more natural light in the kitchen area. And, we added a second exterior entrance into a mudroom near the laundry.

Inside, we opened walls between the primary living area, bonus room with fireplace, and the dining room. This simple shift in the layout improved the flow of traffic through the space, and gave us the opportunity to add a half guest bath in the bonus room.

The eat-in kitchen and dining was transformed with some shifts to the footprint. By adding the double sliding door and moving the location of the refrigerator, we created space for an island with breakfast bar. The team also brought the staircase into the dining room to create more convenient access to the newly finished basement.

The large basement was divide into basement/storage and a separate garage/workspace. While we obviously wanted to keep the division, it became important to finish the basement/storage area. We saw an opportunity for future homeowners to have a more functional space – still with ample storage – but an area that could also be enjoyed while gathered around the second fireplace.

Upstairs, we finished the full hall bath with hexagon tile and sleek finishes that refined the space.

Then, in the master ensuite, we demoed an unused closet to create a spacious waterfall shower. We also expanded the small vanity with a left-side sink to allow for more counter and prep space. The whole room was finished with beautiful green-grey tile in Herringbone and stack patterns.

All around, this beautiful house shined with upgraded finishes and small layout shifts that created dramatic improvements for how the new family would use it.
